Not just a Rhyme !

Most of the parents with children in the age group of 1-3 years have been here and done this! They have been forced to the sweet sounds of this, followed by its agonizing irritation that follows you in your sleep as well. The day starts with this and ends with this. Welcome to the world of Rhymes and the Rhyme of all – “Baa Baa Black sheep”.
Vrinda calls it “Baa Baa”.

Anuj and I have been on this journey ever since Vrinda was about 6 months old. The day we started her food intake, that day embarked the beginning of this “Baa Baa Black sheep” journey. A saga so overpowering that it has taken away our TV time, our Movie time and all virtual things that could have possibly entertained us. Today our entertainment quotient consists of rhymes, rhymes and more rhymes.

The Phonics ABC song
Ten Little Pigs - Vrinda calls it "Tigs"

The whole gamut of things that cry out this song , which has become the way of our life today, include our television, our PC, Anuj’s laptop, our Mobile phones and my Tab. First we moved from TV to Tab because, Vrinda watched her rhymes on TV. Then we moved from Tab to our mobiles for watching movies and TV series’, like “Game of Thrones” on our smartphones. Imagine, it’s a crime to watch Game of thrones on a phone, but then Hail Rhymes as the tab had also been taken over by our darling Vrinda. Even the phones are taken away by her at times no other mode of “Rhyme indulgence” is available.

Vrinda's "Bow Bow" Rhyme

The latest in the list of these torturous times include a two and a half hour session of Baa Baa Black Sheep and the likes, in flight from Mumbai to Chandigarh. Oh, I was fine. I am used to this. But fellow passengers? What crime had they committed to have gone through this trauma of rhymes throughout, literally throughout the journey? As we reached Chandigarh, I closed the tab, waited for the doors to open so I could run out as soon as possible, and when that happened, I moved out in a way as if nothing had happened. I did Feel sad for the souls who could not sleep due to the continuous playing of rhymes, but then so couldn’t I !!
With her inflight entertainment

I carried the tab full of rhymes to Vrinda’s grandparent’s house so that their TV time is not disturbed. But hey, I had forgotten that she was going to her grandparents. They very happily let go of their TV, their PCs and all possible things that displayed Baa Baa Black Sheep! to my surprise her Dadu had even downloaded new versions of the same rhyme for her. Apparently Anuj had already called her Dadu and asked him to keep her entertainment material ready, while we flew high listening to it. Oh My God , more Baa Baa Black Sheep was to come!
Another Baa Baa Black Sheep

The love of her life has been a beautiful Baby Song called “Mommy Loves Baby(You’re the sun of mine) – 2013.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PsBA1cct70)
And she calls it “Mummyyyy” :-)
"The" Mummy Song

As parents we are really trying hard to get her off this habit of watching rhymes while eating or when she has nothing else to do. But then there are times, times when we need a break ourselves, times when we want to chat up or catch up with our friends and family, times when Vrinda is cranky, it is us who switch on these rhymes for her as an arrangement to keep her busy and involved.  What to do, such are the Baby Diaries! If you get to enjoy the Bliss of having a baby, then you have to handle this too!
